| Gray represents an in-between place. The lack of contrast creates ambiguity. These methods, etching, collage and suminagashi marbling, contrast with the bold graphic of woodcut. They are expressive of a different mood and the drifting space of the unknown.
Winter, the subject of two books pictured here, is a gray season. Gray is lifeless and acts as the beyond-the-grave voice in Quando Cadran Le Foglie. A dream, a memory and a prayer are the subjects of Peeling Wallpaper. These all reach into the obscure layers of the mind. Click on images for more information.
